West Wawanosh Mutual Insurance Company has an immediate opportunity for a full-time Claims Adjuster to join our Underwriting Team in Goderich, Ontario.  

This position reports directly to the Claims Manager and will be responsible for effectively investigating, evaluating and processing claims for West Wawanosh Mutual Policyholders in a timely and efficient manner.

West Wawanosh Mutual Insurance (WWMIC) was formed in 1879, by a group of farmers who banded together when other insurance companies refused to help. They have a deep history of supporting their neighbours and a commitment to strong relationships and local connections.

With just under 30 employees, WWMIC currently underwrites approximately $30 million in gross written premium and has a sizable surplus. Located in beautiful Goderich, Ontario WWMIC offers insurance coverage for commercial, farm, residential, and automobiles to communities such as Blyth, Goderich, Seaforth, Lucknow, Kincardine, Hanover, Owen Sound, Bracebridge, and Parry Sound.

WHAT YOU HAVE:

  • Strong understanding of the P&C claims processes, interpretation of policy wordings and awareness of industry trends
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Working knowledge of all relevant regulations, including the Insurance Act
  • Effective communications and sound ethics to interact with all parties involved in the claim process, including internal team members and build those relationships
  • Strong computer skills, time management and organizational skills
  • Thorough research, analysis, judgment and problem solving skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to work with a high degree of accuracy
  • College diploma or University degree in a related field
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years adjusting experience
  • Completion or commitment to achieve professional designation such as Chartered Insurance Professional
  • A valid driver’s license is required
