Keep a copy of this Auto Accident Checklist in your vehicle glove box. IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT, REMAIN CALM check for injuries, DO NOT MOVE injured persons. Be aware of approaching vehicles and take extra precautions. If safe to do so and vehicles are operating safely, move vehicle out of traffic. CALL POLICE and AMBULANCE (911).

In Case of an Accident

BE AWARE of approaching vehicles and take extra
precautions.

If safe to do so and vehicles are operating safely, MOVE
VEHICLE out of traffic.

If damage appears to be over $1,000 or if injuries are
involved, CALL POLICE and AMBULANCE (911). If you are unsure, it is best to call.

Print this PDF pamphlet and keep it in your glove box so you can fill in the information when you are on the scene. 

 

DO NOT:
  • DO NOT DISCUSS the accident with anyone other than the police or your insurance representative.
  • DO NOT ADMIT any fault for the accident.
  • DO NOT LEAVE the scene until authorized by the police.
 
TAKE PHOTOS

If you happen to have a camera or cellphone, TAKE PICTURES. If not, take pictures of your vehicle when possible.

WRITE your story down as soon as possible so as not to forget small details.

REPORT the accident to your broker, agent or insurance company.

DO NOT AUTHORIZE repairs on your vehicle until you’ve spoken to a claims adjuster.
