West Wawanosh Mutual Insurance Company has an immediate opportunity for a Part-time Custodian  position in Goderich, Ontario.  Reporting to the Company’s Financial Controller, the Custodian would be responsible for ensuring a clean, safe and healthy office environment.

With 29 employees, WWMIC currently underwrites approximately $29 million in gross written premium and has a sizable surplus.  Located in beautiful Goderich, Ontario, WWMIC is a fully licensed multi-line insurer for commercial, farm, residential, and automobiles to communities such as Blyth, Goderich, Seaforth, Lucknow, Kincardine, Hanover, Owen Sound, Bracebridge, and Parry Sound. KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performing all cleaning duties in accordance with a weekly cleaning schedule
  • Following generally accepted principles of cleaning and sanitation
  • Carrying out routine maintenance and inspection procedures as detailed in the Building Preventative Maintenance checklist
  • Removal of waste/garbage from the interior and exterior of the buildings
  • Carrying out other maintenance, cleaning tasks or ground maintenance as required
  • Maintain an inventory of equipment and supplies needed for the execution of the job
  • Ensure the safety of all customers and staff by following established WHMIS safety standards and Workplace Health & Safety policies, practices and procedures
  • Actively participate in the identification of workplace hazards with the aim of continuously improving the work environment,
  • Escalate any custodial, maintenance and/or safety issues to the Financial Controller for resolution. 

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of secondary school diploma
  • Six (6) months related experience,
  • Strong communication skills (listening, verbal & written)
  • Ability to perform all maintenance duties on a regular basis
  • Understanding of Health and Safety requirements and WHIMIS
  • Ability to be flexible and work independently
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds,
  • Ability to lift heavier items with the help of another employee or a lifting aide,
  • Able to climb stairs, ladders etc
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s license (G2 or higher)
